Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that is a progressive disease on the nerve cells of the brain. The disease kills off the nerve cells in the brain causing memory loss and eventually problems with reasoning, verbal communication, and perception.

For Alzheimer's please answer the following questions:

What are the causes of Alzheimer's?
What are the symptoms of Alzheimer's?
What are treatment options for Alzheimer's?
Is Alzheimer's curable?
Is there a nationality, race or gender that this disease tends to affect more than others?
Are there any other interesting facts about this disease? (i.e. leading cause of death in women under 50, etc.)

In addition, please be sure you are answering any additional questions that anyone may be asking.

To the other groups asking questions... remember, as we discussed in class, we do not want to make these questions impossible for the group to answer. Instead we want the questions to be designed in such a way that we will learn the important facts about the diseases which we are discussing over the next few weeks.
